Boone County Sheriff 2014

For anyone who hasn't driven on a major road in Boone County over the past few months, Mike Nielson is very aggressively running for Sheriff and can hardly fail as he is the only legally qualified candidate. His yellow campaign posters and signs dot lawns, roadsides, telephone poles, and even a large trailer on IN47 east of IN39.
He is a fairly well qualified candidate, with 28 years in law enforcement (22 of which have been with Boone County Sheriff's office.) As such, he has a fairly impressive resume that can be easily found here (a noteworthy item: he is a member of the NRA, which at makes him at minimum a moderate conservative.)
One concerning omission from the website is a clarification of some of his views regarding police authority, especially with the rise in abuse of power and brutality by law enforcement across the nation. I'd personally like very much to have lunch with Mike and get to know him, find his opinions on a number of issues like no-knock warrants and such. As a registered voter, I'll be in the booth Tuesday with a tentative "yes" for Mike Nielson.
